I have not personally tested if it goes through an upgrade.  I have  
watched the upgrade procedures and they seems very "patch like" and a  
couple of RPM's thrown in.  RPM should protect changes to those  
files.  I have not, however, seen an SNMP RPM included in any other  
upgrades thus far.
