Right now If the browser is IE7 it would not check for 896688.

And from Microsoft's notes for KB896688, it does not say that this is
required for IE 7.

So any user using IE7 will not be checked for this check and will be
logged in.

Subject: IE7

Has anyone tried / seen IE7 yet?

I know the current updates rule is
(!pc_IE6_0|pc_HotFix896688_XP_SP2)

So If you don't have IE 6.0 or if you do have IE 6.0 but not 896688, you
pass.

But if you have IE 7.0, would 896688 be checked? Is 896688 even a
problem with 7.0?

FYI
Pc_IE6_0 is
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ Version starts with 6.0
