CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
DISTINGUISHED BOOK AND ARTICLE AWARDS
APPLIED COMMUNICATION DIVISION
SPEECH COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATION
The Applied Communication Division of the Speech Communication
Association seeks nominations for its annual research awards.
These awards acknowledge research that has made, or offers the
promise of, significant contribution to scholarship in applied
communication theory, research, and/or practice.
Awards will be given in two categories: one to the author(s) of
an outstanding article published in a communication journal; the
other to the author(s)/editor(s) of an outstanding scholarly
text. Textbooks are not eligible for this award. When
warranted, the committee may choose to recognize authored and
edited books in two separate categories. Articles and books
published with a 1995 or 1996 copyright date are eligible for
consideration.
To apply, send a letter of nomination to the committee chair
below. Self-nominations are strongly encouraged. Include a
brief rationale and explanation of the significance of the work
to applied communication theory, research, and/or practice. Any
published reviews of the work should be included. Three copies
of the article or book should also be submitted.
The awards will be presented at the business meeting of the
Applied Communication Division at the 1996 SCA Convention in San
Diego. The award recipients will share a special panel at the
1997 SCA Convention.
All nominations and materials must be received by September 13,
1996. Please send them to:
