Conversation: Carsten Schradin's visit
Subject: Carsten Schradin's visit

Carsten Schradin, from the University of Zurich, will be visiting on Friday
while he is in the US. He has a pretty interesting study system, the
striped mouse in the Succulent Karoo in South Africa. They are diurnal,
communal yet solitary foragers and the males behave paternally. Pretty
unusual for a mammal! He has conducted laboratory and field studies as well
as hormonal work, looking at correlates of paternal care and dominance
(testosterone and corticosterone). For those that may be interested, he
sent along one of his papers.
Carsten will be giving a seminar on Friday in the zoology conference room,
218 Pearson Hall, at 4 PM and then there will be a reception at my house for
him. My address is 1016 Tollgate Dr. I'll have maps. All are welcome!
See you then!!
Nancy
