Good news, Ross. I glad it was not worse. Downed trees that are not causing problems can be dealt with more casually. Having a school that is fine helps for showers, food, and morale. It is a funny thing, but normally after storms like that it is beautiful for days.

Further north than Robert and west of Boston we have no electricity but
still have cell phone service and town water. I am not opening the
refrigerator until the power is restored. Interestingly, after two
days, we still are enjoying the brief shower with somewhat warm water.
I will be showering at work tomorrow I suspect.
I have two trees down and the larger one just missed hitting the house.
The weather, however, has been beautiful since Irene left and took all
the humidity with her.
Thanks goodness thins at our respective schools are still functioning.
Like many schools we had move-in for first year students last weekend
which got everyone here before the storm.

Thanks Ernie. We suffered no property damage but our home has no
electricity, no water, no land line, and our already weak cell phone
service disappeared. Two days later we are taking showers at a friend's
house, throwing out all of our food, and waiting for the tree-smashed
power line to be repaired.

Thoughts and prayers to all of those harmed by this hurricane. Down
here we know exactly what you are going through: it was six years ago
today that Katrina destroyed and rearranged many parts of the landscape.
It will get better. Have faith.
