Thanks, Robert. I usually do #1. Carol, and anyone interested, send me an off ALSBTALK e-mail and I’m happy to share info about hotels. With Oxford, I usually just catch the bus straight from the airport to Oxford rather than heading into London and heading back out.

Carol,

You ask all the critical questions.

I can't help you on lodging, but there are really three ways to pay (and a credit card isn't one of them):

1. Go to a bank that can write a draft payable in pounds sterling
2. Initiate a bank wire transfer
3. Pay in cash with converted funds once you get there.

When I went to ALT last year I ended up doing 2.

Good luck and enjoy it. It was a great experience for me last year.

How do you usually pay dues or fees to the UK? Do you have suggestions on where to stay in London before going to Oxford - hopefully near transportation to Oxford. I am hoping to make reservations during semester break for April. Carol
