Pat, We've had comparable things in Texas towns too recently (Tyler,
Jasper), and feel as wretched as you do about the events in Laramie.
You've expressed our feelings very well--the grief for a family tragedy and
the fear and revulsion all of us hold for hate-mongers in our midst. Bill
>I'm tagging on to Dan's message to tell you the real story of what's
>happening in Laramie, Wyoming. Some of the media reports have
>characterized Wyoming as the cowboy state where everyone who is different
>will be pistol-whipped. This is so far from the truth. Our university
>and town are so shocked and full of grief about the terrible tragedy that
>happened here last week. There is a lot of anger and a lot of tears.
>We're feeling sad and scared. Our home has been violated. I hope that
>when you hear the news
>and talk about what happened, you'll remember that it was only two guys
>who committed this atrocity, not the people of Laramie. Thanks for taking
>the time.
