Having appeared before bankruptcy judges with petitions for attorneys
fees in hand many years ago, I am amazed at the inflation in fees and
attendant charges as evidenced by the article you sent. I will say this,
however, we never got a full request, bankruptcy judges seemed to enjoy
knocking back fee requests although they rarely made you eat costs.
Because everyone knew that that was how the system worked, a certain
amount of padding always went into a petition for fees. The real benefit
in these bankruptcy cases was getting appointed in the first place-only
a select few seemed to get all the big cases.
