And yet, not all research *is* equal in quality. Which is why I believe
that Laura (or some other writer on this thread) was suggesting a
comparison of the actual articles (ie, the quality of the research),
instead of simply relying on the "name" of the journal. Like it or not,
our "peers" within the college *will* judge us by the "quality" of the
research. Therefore, the best we in the Academy can do is to establish
some "reasonable," "equitable" methodology for evaluating research. For
if we do not do so, some other, less interested and understanding
party (read = non-legally-trained business faculty) will judge us by the
criteria they understand and utilize.
What do you think? Perhaps the development of this methodology could be
rolled into the Academy's strategic plan under the heading of increasing
the professionalism of the members?
