Re: Peter's questions about the refereed discussant tracks for the
annual conference.
 
For a variety of historical, political, and personal reasons, the
Academy has never chosen to referee papers for presentation, unlike,
for example, the Academy of Management. The refereeing takes place
for the proceedings only.
 
However, some schools are now reluctant to fund travel for nonrefereed
paper presentations; consequently, this new refereed track with the
March 1st deadline is to allow papers the refereeing process, if the
author so wishes.  The process is double-blind.
