Brava, Marianne!  I agree with you 100%.  Most of the top journals
in each field are so quantitative that there are almost no
sentences in the "article."  This seems especially mindless in areas
such as marketing and management.  The academic journals may be the
best empirical study that the markets are indeed efficient: the
disciplines received exactly what they asked for.
I eagerly await the letters section later in the week.  I am sure
someone will disagree with Marianne, but I cannot imagine who it
could be.
