Thanks, everyone. Yes, I was very, very active at this conference. I do have energy, yes, but this level of running around taxed my resources. A labor of love, I tell you.

Some have been inquiring about the ELS presentation. I attach our slides for your review.

Your speedy friend,

Robert

that man told me he was involved in ten academic events at the conf. Can we ask for a drugs test? (too much energy for an old fat Brit.). I'm off to see the Gwinnet Braves here in nothing like as steamy as NOLA Atlanta.

Great to see you all - sorry - y'all - see you again in Kansas City.

Peter.

I am now aware of that, and send my apologies to the entire listserv who witnessed my error. The email was supposed to go to Robert Bird only. It was a wonderful conference, but I got in late last night and am slightly foggy today. I could use a little of Robert Bird's energy. :)

Hi Robert

I am one of those conference attendees who was unfortunately unable to attend your ELS workshop b/c I was my regional delegate and so had to be at the House of Delegates meeting, so I'm writing to ask for a copy of your presentation when you get a minute.

I'll also add that your comments at the ABLJ meeting for new authors were extremely helpful to me! It's good to have a road-map. Thank you very much.

Thanks, Robert!

John and I are finalizing PowerPoint materials for the workshop. We will split the time. I?ll go first and talk about ELS generally. Then we?ll have the break/coding exercise. After that John will speak about more meaty ELS subjects.

If anyone on the LISTSERV finds themselves unable to attend and are similarly interested, please email me after the conference and I will gladly email you the presentation we presented.

Hi Robert,
This looks very interesting. I wish I would change plane reservations and come on in early enough for the workshop.
I hope you and John have some materials I could look at. I actually am engaged in coding cases and hope to heck I know what I'm doing.
                That's because I'm a raving stats-challenged empiricist (how's that for an oxymoron).
                                See you soon,
                                                Robert

Subject: empirical legal studies workshop

Hello everyone,

As you know from the program, John Allison and I are hosting an empirical legal studies workshop on Wednesday August 10 in the LaFitte-Conti room at the upcoming conference. The workshop will introduce the concept of empirical legal studies and will not assume background knowledge of statistics. Math-o-phones and stat-o-phobes welcome!

During the session break, participants will perform a short case coding exercise to experience the process of gathering data for an empirical project. The coding exercise is attached if anyone is an eager beaver and wants to read through the exercise on the plane flight to New Orleans. The goal of exercise is to code a simply trademark infringement case and its likelihood of confusion factors.

Looking forward to seeing you all in NOLA.

Robert
