POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Assistant Professor/Associate Professor
ACCOUNTING
The School of Business and Economics (SBE) at the University of
Minnesota, Duluth has an Assistant/Associate Professor tenure-track
position available in its Department of Accounting beginning September
1, 2000. Individual will teach and develop course(s) in accounting
information systems, cost and financial. The candidate will be
expected to conduct accounting research, and disseminate the results
through refereed journals and other outlets. The faculty member is
responsible for advising undergraduate and graduate students. In
addition, he or she is expected to engage in institutional,
disciplinary and community service activities.
Approximately, 1,200 undergraduate and 76 graduate students are
currently enrolled in the School's programs. There are 34 regular
faculty positions in four academic departments: Accounting, Economics,
Finance and Management Information Sciences, and Management Studies
(which includes marketing and human resource management). The School
offers the Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Business Administration,
and MBA degrees. Regional outreach is accomplished primarily through
activities of the School's Center for Economic Development, the Bureau
of Business and Economic Research, and the Center for Economic

Located along the western shore of Lake Superior, Duluth offers an
abundance of recreational opportunities year round. The city is the
retail, cultural, medical, and governmental center for the Arrowhead

Doctoral degree in Accounting or (Ph.D. or D.B.A.) in Business
Administration with a concentration in Accounting from an AACSB
accredited institution in hand at time of appointment; college level
teaching experience; appropriate education or experience to develop &
teach accounting information systems, cost and financial courses; a
publication record in accounting refereed academic journals or
peer-reviewed proceedings; and communication skills appropriate to a
faculty position in accounting are required. CPA/CMA certification and
college-level teaching experience in Accounting preferred. Rank will
be dependent on the number of years of teaching and quantity and
quality of refereed publications.
