Beats me. It's really not very commonplace. The ranch owner was just
downplaying Cheney's screw-up. Hunters usually don't shoot one another.

So if it's all that foreseeable and commonplace, what's the vice
president
of the United States doing there?

You spell the way you spelled it, Ginny.
The guy he shot was Harry Whittington, 78, a long-time Austin lawyer.
He's apparently as ok as one can be with shotgun pellets in his face and
neck. The owner of the ranch blew it off and said this kind of thing
happens all the time. Gimmee a break.....

If Cheney shot this guy, this guy could have shot Cheney. What was
anyone
doing with a loaded gun in the presence of the vice president? The
secret
service must be apoplectic (how do you spell apoplectic?).
