Carol, thank you for letting us know. In my humble opinion, as native of Kansas City and not knowing all the issues, this appears to be entirely appropriate, a good thing, truly overdue, and worthy of congratulations.

Best wishes,

Barbara Kincaid

Subject: Missouri State University

Today the Missouri legislature passed a bill changing the name of our
university to Missouri State University (dropping the bidirectional
Southwest from the front end of the name)! This effort has sloshed
through the quagmire of Missouri politics for 17 years. This is the
100
year anniversary of SMSU -- and the Governor will sign the bill at
"Founders Day" on March 17. Effective Aug. 28, we will be known as
Missouri State University.
