I'm not positive, but doesn't the ABA offer grants for projects like this
one.  That might solve both problems raised today: funding an independent
research project, while at the same time involving lawyers in the drafting
of the survey instrument.  I think the ABA is (at least arguably) detached,
since they primarily focus on law schools and not business schools, but,
they're also trained in the law. Laurie Lucas
