At Bentley we do have such positions and they are called senior lecturer.
Our faculty manual clearly spells out that persons in these positions are not
eleigible for tenure and the terms of the faculty manual are incorporated
into the terms of the contract. Often, these members are asked to teach a
heavier load of courses with little or no expectations of scholarly activity.
In other instances, they may take on a teaching and service load i.e.
running an internship program, again with little or no expectation of
scholarly activity. Hope this helps. Lucille Ponte, Bentley College
