Hi Colleagues:

If you have not yet looked at Vol. 38 (Winter '01) of our journal, the ABLJ,
you should examine Don Mayer's piece, "Community, Business Ethics, and
Global Capitalism" as it relates to the terrible events of the last week.
38 ABLJ 215.

"Big business now shapes and re-shapes our culture... 'as traditional
communities communities disappear and ancient cultures are overwhelmed,
billions of human beings are losing the sense of place and sense of self
that gives life meaning.' Now and in the future [we will] see a battle
'between the forces of globalization and the territorially based forces of
local survival seeking to preserve and to redefine community.'"
