Dear ALSB Colleagues,

I am writing to ask your help with a paper I am developing. One
aspect of the paper concerns the degree of interaction between students and
faculty in higher educaation, and in particular, how colleges and
universities promote a close learning relationship in their mission
statements, marketing, and recruitment materials.

Typical platitudes in mission statements might include "a high
degeee of personal interaction" between students and faculty, or perhaps
"individual attention", or a "close connection", etc. In marketing
materials, emphasis may be placed on low teacher-student ratios, individual
advising, etc.

If you are aware of such goals or claims in the mission statements,
statements of values or convictions, or in marketing materials at your
institution, would you please send me an e-mail containing the full text
(if fairly short) or relevant sections of the material, along with a hint
about how it could be cited in a paper!!

Many thanks in advance, and see you in Albuquerque!
