I agree with Robert Lamb's comments, but of course this is not a sufficient
answer to people like Laura Pincus who must worry about presenting "journal
quality" for their tenure dossiers. Even if it is offensive, we must play
the game until we get tenure, and it isn't realistic to tell our untenured
colleagues that it's demeaning and leave it at that.
