I remember that day too. Best day's work I ever did.

Oh no it's not that bad. Fourteen years is from the time I actually wanted to teach business law. I still remember that day in June 1996 when Ken Schneyer sent a nice long email to me about this strange organization I'd never heard of called the Academy of Legal Studies in Business.

I've only been at UConn for 6 now. They've been good to me, doncha worry about that. :)

Dear Birdman, What is wrong with Connecticut? After 14 years, you should be the Vice President of Academic Affairs, or at least Dean! Does it really take them that long to recognize talent? Geez, UC faculty (except you of course) must be a little slow on the uptake, or did the Board of Trustees have to do a searching investigation because you teach law? Oh well, now that you have tenure, that is all water over the dam. Your new job is fending off all the people who have suddenly discovered you have talent, intelligence, insight and judgment. Good luck. James

HI everyone,

A friend who is a German lawyer is looking for a popular US law dictionary (e.g. Black's). But she is trying to find one that is in German. My own web search turned up nothing. Anyone have any suggestions?

On other personal news (which I couldn't bear to boast about unless I had some other reason to post on ALSBTALK), I received a crisp white letter in my department mailbox. The letter duly informed me that the Board of Trustees of the University of Connecticut recommended my promotion to Associate Professor, with tenure, effective August 23, 2010. Heartfelt congratulations followed.

A fourteen year academic journey has passed a vital milestone. I couldn't have done it without the help of my very good friends in this wonderful academic community. I look forward to celebrating with anyone and everyone most heartily in Richmond!

Robert
