Happy to report Harvard Business School includes law
within the required core course Leadership and Corporate
Accountability and Yale School of Management has a
required core course State and Society that includes lots
of law, incl. product liability, employment
discrimination, securities regulation, bankruptcy,
environmental regulations, litigation, intellectual
property, and international trade. BTW State and Society
is part of Yale's new Perspectives Core and is coequal w/
Investor, Competitor, Customer, and Employee. See Yale
SOM website for more details. In fact, Yale just recruited
me so they could add more law to the first-year, which we
did in the course I just finished teaching w/ Doug Rae, a
political scientist. We also covered subprime crisis,
Cummins' decision to set up a government relations
function in China, the US presidential elections, and
gathering of government intelligence by Medley Global
Advisors. Cases included Suzlon (fifth largest
wind-turbine manufacturer in world and its int'l expansion
strategy), Merck and Vioxx, route for BP Pipeline to carry
oil from Aberbijian, Southern States Communications, USG
Corporation, and privatization of water in Bolivia. yale
and its new dean Joel Podolny have gotten lots of good
press re its integrated approach. The joy of having a dean
who is a sociologist not an economist.

Best,
Connie
