Subject: Would you be a mentor (bus. ethics)?

Hello ALSB’rs:

Note – this is *not* intended to sabotage the ALSB mentorship program! I just want to say that from the start ;o))

I just wanted to let you all know that I coordinate the Mentorship Program for the Society for Business Ethics, which has been in place for about the past 10 years or so. Thank you to those ALSB’rs who already have participated as mentors.

I am emailing because I am a bit short on mentors at the moment and was wondering if any of you might be interested in serving as a mentor to a colleague in connection with their work in business ethics. Our colleagues come from a variety of disciplines, including law, management, strategy, philosophy and so on. The mentorship program is not intended to be a burdensome responsibility. Instead, it involves intermittent communication and gentle guidance. Perhaps you might suggest a particular direction for work or trouble-shoot a teaching challenge. Often you might not have the answer at all but instead know just the right person who does, and simply serve as a connector for your mentee. Each relationship is different and all I do is forge them, then step out.

If you are willing to serve, please simply email me your name, areas of research interest and any other capacity where you believe you have some expertise (teaching, service, and so on).

Warm regards,
Laura
