Ken Schneyer asked "Is there on institutional memory [that the Good
Times virus warning was posted on ALSBTALK last year]?" I wouldn't
expect anyone to remember, although some would. Also, the person who
forwarded the warning was concerned, I assume. Better safe than
sorry.
As to acquiring a virus by EMail, I imagine some are worried about
the possibility. Do we have someone out there who "knows" computers?
If so, am I correct that it would not be possible to spread a virus
by EMail? It SEEMS that (1) a virus would have to be an executable
program, (2) EMail is transmitted ascii, and (3) an executable
program cannot be transmitted ascii. If all of this is so, maybe
people would be more comfortable using EMail. If not, Oh Well . . .
