The Wilks Leadership Institute is currently looking for interactive, hands-on workshops for the 2012 Wilks Regional High School Leadership Conference to be held on Thursday, April 26th in the Shriver Center. The conference will draw about 100-125 high school students from the region to Miami’s campus for a day of leadership exploration.

The overarching theme of the conference is emerging leadership meaning that students attending do not need to have had any past leadership experience or a requisite GPA. Workshop proposals for the conference should have direct and intentional connections to the emerging leadership theme and have a goal of preparing students to make change in their communities.

This year, we are organizing selected workshops into themes. When students attend the conference, they will select a theme for the day and attend the workshops associated with that theme. This allows for more student choice in which workshops they attend and gives them the opportunity to attend workshops with themes they are passionate about. We ask that you consider the themes your proposed workshop could fall into as you develop it. Some workshop theme ideas include but are not limited to: Group dynamics, team building, diversity, service, goal setting and action planning, community engagement, and social justice.

If you are interested in developing a workshop but are unable or uncomfortable to present it, we still encourage you to submit a proposal. In the field where it requests the presenter name(s), either indicate a different presenter or indicate that you do not have a presenter for the workshop.

To submit a proposal, please read the attached information sheet, which contains further details about workshop proposals, and complete a workshop proposal form, also attached. This information is also available on the Wilks Leadership Institute’s homepage: http://community.muohio.edu/wilks/. Return the completed proposal form electronically to Sarah Kipp at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>. Feel free to send any questions to the same e-mail.

We hope to work with you in this leadership endeavor!
