Subject: Class Discussion

Peace All,

Below is a note from Professor Eric Aikens. If any of you are interested in attending the class on Thursday APRIL 3rd at 2pm please let me know as I am attempting to put together a small group that will offer great insight after the video and encourage the students to do so as well. These are important issues facing our community and it would be beneficial to have graduate representation.

Miracles,
Brian McQueen

Subject: Class Discussion

Hey B

Info: The classroom is 415 MCG and meets from 2PM - 3:15 on T/R.
Class Title: BWS (MFP) African & African American Sexualities

I am using a piece from Tongues Untied as context for a discussion on queer
sexuality at the intersection of race and masculinity, specifically.
Several themes ebb their way throughout this video (text) and are
particularly useful a broader discussion. Thus, I would like to invite a
few members from the university community to come to this class this
Thursday (March 3, 2008) and participate (if so willing) in the discussion.
I realize this is short notice and understand the consequences thereof.

On another note, I remain interested in facilitating a larger, formal
discussion around the topic next same next semester (I may even revive my
pre-tenure seminal performance piece titled "The Absence of Rice and
Bridesmaids" as an additional discursive text.

Thanks again for providing this information to a few.
