Subject: [NAGPS] Legislative Action Days (Feb. 15-16)

NAGPS Logo

Happy New Year from the NAGPS board!

As you know, the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students
(NAGPS) represents the interests of graduate and professional students
across the country. For a summary of the issues we focus on, visit
http://www.nagps.org/legislative. Once a year we go to Washington to
communicate these interests to our elected officials.

Mark your calendars!
Legislative Action Days:
Thursday and Friday, February 15th and 16th

The goal of Legislative Action Day is to promote awareness of our concerns
on Capitol Hill. This includes the Higher Education Affordability and
Equity Act, the Student Borrower Bill of Rights, and other important
issues. NAGPS works on this year round, and your involvement in phone and
letter campaigns helps. But on this week each year, we all get to make
our voices heard! Please forward this message or the attached PDF to your
fellow graduate students.

Please join us in Washington, D.C. Our goal this year is to have
representation from every state. We will give you all the information you
need on where to go, and which points to address. You will be responsible
for setting up appointments with your elected officials, and coordinating
these appointments with us. Please let us know as soon as possible if you
plan to join us.

Want to help organize this event? Join the Legislative Committee at

Ask your GSA today about funding for travel, lodging and food. Hotel
rates can be around $150-$200 per night. If your GSA is unable to provide
funding, you may apply for a grant from NAGPS to defray some costs. Send
an email to [log in to unmask] with your school, residential address, and
reason for applying.

We hope you will take this opportunity to make your voice heard in
Washington, and we look forward to working with you to promote these
important issues!

More information can be found here: http://www.nagps.org/?q=node/265 Or

Sincerely,

The NAGPS Board
