Hotep all,

As you all know, one of the initiatives to come out of the GSCA's 2nd
annual Pan-African meeting was the creation of the Pan-African Partnership
Program. Please either e-mail or call me (664-8128) ASAP in order to sign
up for the program. The program will link incoming students of Black
African descent with African American students at Miami. We want to
include graduate as well as undergraduate students. Each incoming student
of Black African descent will be paired with an African American student
on campus. For a period of about one year, the two students will be
required to interact frequently in order to ensure that a friendship
develops. This friendship will help incoming students of African descent
experience a smooth transition to life in America and foster better
relations between Africans from abroad and African Americans. Being
people of Black African descent, we have much in common as well as much to
learn from one another. The specific details of the program are currently
being worked out and I will get them to you as soon as they are finalized;
however, the fist step is to generate a list of people who are willing to
participate. Please, I'm begging you to be a part of this program and
demonstrate that people of Black African descent care enough about each
other to take action to help each other. We should not depend on others
to do for us that which we should and can do for ourselves. Think, Work,
& Serve -- Kamau (664-8128).
