Subject: Volunteer Trip to Guatamala

Hey!

How's it going? My name is Molli Anderson, and I am a Junior here at Miami University. I’m contacting your group, Graduate Students of Color Association, because I'm organizing a volunteer trip to Guatemala this spring break, and I think that it would be a really nice opportunity for some of your members to get involved, since I know that your group really cares about making a difference on campus, international experience, the developing world, and student leadership. It’s going to be an amazing learning experience, and I am personally very excited about going and putting this together.

In a nutshell, the trip is going to be a combination of meaningful community and agricultural volunteer work, relaxation, and some pretty exotic excursions. The group will be working very closely with a community-based non-profit organization to ensure that the volunteer work we do will actually have a serious positive impact. And it's going to be fun. We'll be in a charming Guatemalan city that has a pretty sweet nightlife, and we're even going to hike an active volcano!

This won't be the typical vacation that most of the students here at Miami have. Unlike being a traditional tourist, each person will actually form relationships with the local community, gain incredible intercultural experience, learn more about themselves, and make a real difference. The trip may seem a bit pricey at first glance, but I think that it's definitely a good investment.

I will be holding an information session at 7 PM on Tuesday February 3 as well as Tuesday February 10 in Culler 216, where I'll review the details of the trip and answer any of the questions that students might have. Also, I can be reached at [log in to unmask] if anybody has any immediate questions or wants additional information before the meeting.

Best,
Molli Anderson
