Hello GSCA members,

Just a reminder about a guest speaker tomorrow:

Award-winning author, educator, speaker and poet Sharon Draper (Miami MAT '73) will present "A Blueprint for Dreamers" at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, in the Sesquicentennial Chapel.

Draper is a New York Times best-selling author, five-time winner of the Coretta Scott King Book Award, an Ohio Teacher of the Year and a National Teacher of the Year (1997).

Her numerous books have also received awards including the American Library Association’s (ALA) Best Book for Young Adults, Parent’s Choice Award, ALA Best of the Best Award and Children’s Choice Award from the International Reading Association.

Draper has been honored by the White House six times and was also named an Ohio Pioneer in Education by the Ohio State Department of Education.

The talk is sponsored by Miami’s office of diversity affairs, the Black History Celebration committee and the Center for American and World Cultures.

Hope to see you there,
