The Senate Periodical Press Gallery has a non-paid internship opportunity
for Fall 2010 facilitating media coverage of the U.S. Senate. The position
presents an opportunity to interact with journalists credentialed through
the Gallery and observe numerous different Senate events, which include
Senate floor debates, Committee meetings and various press events. Duties
include: tracking Senate floor legislation; coordinating media logistics at
Senate committee hearings and press conferences; basic clerical and
administrative duties; and responding to media inquiries. Qualifications:
Major in journalism, communications, or a related field; at least 1 year of
collegiate study required. Intern should have an interest in politics and
the media. Need to be familiar with MS Office programs and have professional
telephone etiquette. The job is 20-40 hours a week. Availability Tuesday
through Thursday is essential. Flexibility will be considered based on
Periodical Press Gallery's need and applicant's school schedule. Send
