Journalism Students,

Looking for a way to get your reporting in front of a national audience and earn Miami’s SL service learning designation? You can do both in Journalism 421A next semester.

The course partners with Cincinnati Public Radio (WVXU 91.7 and WMUB 88.5 FM) to create original reporting on air and online. In recent years, student reporting from the class has aired on radio stations in six states. Student reporting from the class has also been recognized at regional journalism competitions. You can see some examples from last year’s class at:

http://www.wmub.org/student_features/

This year, for the first time, students will also earn the SL designation upon completion of the course. This designation will appear on DARS, allowing students to demonstrate to graduate schools and potential employers that they have experience in the community, putting theory into practice.

The class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-3:15pm.

JRN 202 is a pre-requisite. There will be regular regional travel (each within 30 miles of campus) for the class.

Questions, please ask.
