Students: Journalist Lygia Navarro seeks an intern to conduct research
on international topics for her work. Formerly based in Cincinnati,
Lygia now resides in Michigan -- so this is work you would conduct for
her remotely. She was very pleased with a Miami intern in the past and
so is seeking another candidate from the JRN program. If you seek and
land the position and would like academic credit for your work, be
back in touch with me. -- Patti Newberry

Seeking a curious, resourceful, self-motivated student for a research
and reporting internship. My work focuses on international issues, so
a student double-majoring in International Studies and Journalism
would be a strong match. Internship tasks would initially focus on
background research for stories, and would provide ample opportunities
for students with strong research experience who are interested in
investigative and feature journalism to further develop their
research, computer-assisted and creative reporting skills. Additional
tasks would include: pre-reporting, media research and analysis, work
with audio tracks to prep for editing, and photo-editing. Interest and
familiarity with long-form journalism, and a desire to learn about
producing long, complex stories, a necessity. Spanish fluency a big
plus. The internship may also include work on an online video project
for survivors of child abuse, called the We Can Survive Project
(wecansurvive.org).

If interested, please contact me at the email address below.
