If you're in Oxford for the summer, you might want to consider the
communication internship described below:
Communication Intern
The Phi Kappa Tau national menšs fraternity is seeking a highly motivated,
organized, creative, energetic and passionate team player to serve on the
professional staff as the Communication Intern. This individual will serve
as a member of the Executive Offices staff and report directly to the
Communication Coordinator.
Qualifications
ˇ Strong communication and organizational skills
ˇ General knowledge of fraternity/sorority operations
ˇ Involvement in leadership activities/positions
ˇ Commitment to character and integrity in both personal and
professional life
Expectations
ˇ Work 20 hours per week (in office hours may vary depending on
projects)
ˇ Eagerness to learn the ins and outs of a communication department
ˇ Willingness to improve writing and editing skills
ˇ Some experience in journalism and writing to a wide audience
preferred but not required
Responsibilities
ˇ Write news stories for website
ˇ Assist in transitioning web content to new website
ˇ Assist in writing member profiles for publication on the website or
in future print sources
ˇ Assist in production of mass e-mails and press releases
ˇ Collaborate with other staff members to update, create and/or revise
chapter publications
ˇ Other duties as assigned
ˇ Meet regularly with supervisor to discuss goals and objectives
Start & End Date
Start Date: May 18, 2009 (negotiable)
End Date: August 7, 2009
Note: A performance review will take place at the end of the internship.
