Students and interested others:

This is the final call for RSVPs for the SPJ seminars. Refer to the earlier
listserv notes for details on the Pittsburgh and Indy lineups. Reservation
forms are due during or just after break, so I need confirmations ASAP. As I
think I mentioned to some of you, Miami's SPJ chapter will pay half the
registration fee; hotel and extra food (some meals are included) are on your
own.

AND...

Here's another GREAT seminar: The Institute on Political Journalism will
host a program called "Covering Lawmakers and the Law" at OSU in Columbus,
April 6-8. The program, designed especially for college journalists, is
co-sponsored by the Columbus Dispatch and The Fund for American Studies.
Among the sessions: Covering the state house, covering the executive branch,
covering the courts, writing opinions and finding a job. The weekend also
include a tour of the Dispatch press operations and of WBNS-TV. Best of all:
It's cheap. A measly $35 covers hotel and meals. Transportation to Columbus
is on your own. Registration is due March 28. See www.tfas.org for
registration and other information. This is a fabulous opportunity to learn
political reportage from the pros -- at a convenient, affordable venue.

Have a good break.
