Students: Here are two paid opportunities from SPJ worth checking out. -- PGN

INTERN WITH SPJ

Like journalism? Media law? Freedom of information? Yes, yes, yes!

SPJ is accepting applications for its annual (paid!) Pulliam/Kilgore
Freedom of Information Internship program. Two students or recent
graduates will work on FOI-related topics, one at SPJ headquarters in
Indianapolis, the other with SPJ's legal counsel in Washington, D.C.

The application deadline is Jan. 24, 2013.

Interns should be familiar with journalism industry issues and have an
interest in writing about and researching freedom of
information-related topics. The Indianapolis intern will be a current
(or recently graduated) undergraduate or graduate student. The D.C.
intern has most often been a current law student with a background or
undergraduate education in journalism. Get more information and
application instructions here.

Questions: Email Scott Leadingham or call 317.640.9304.

WE'RE HIRING!

In addition to the two internships outlined above, SPJ has another
opportunity for recent graduates: the yearlong Communications
Postgraduate Internship.

The ideal candidate should be a recent college graduate (bachelor's or
master's) with prior internship or student media experience in
communications and/or journalism. We're looking for someone to help
put SPJ in the media spotlight and assist in growing the organization
and serving Society members.

The full-time position, based in Indianapolis, includes competitive
salary, excellent benefits and paid leave.

Application deadline is 5 p.m. ET, Feb. 15, 2013. The anticipated
start date is June. 1, 2013, and will last one year from the start
date.

For a more detailed description, see the job posting in the student
section of SPJ's website. Direct questions to Tara Puckey (email or
call 317.927.8000 x 215).
