Subject: job opening
Hi Marc,
I'm passing this job opening along in case you know any journalists with only a few years experience -- or less -- looking for a job. My friend, Steve Ackermann, regional news director of the parent company of WXIX, asked if I know anyone. The salary is about entry-level for news outlets around here.
"This is an exciting new project that Raycom is launching now in four markets-including Cincinnati. NOT an original idea editorially, but we think (hope) a better business model.
We posted TWO jobs yesterday. These could be REALLY good entry-level jobs for someone with the right personality and background; or reasonable jobs for someone experienced who needs/wants can't (or doesn't wish to) relocate.
WXIX-TV, the FOX affiliate in Cincinnati, is seeking a full-time community web producer(s) to serve our audiences in the communities where they live with a new web-based product. Successful candidates will be able to manage a portfolio of individual community websites, while recruiting and managing contributors, searching out sources of content, gathering and writing news items along with maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the product.
The successful candidates will have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, journalism background with knowledge of the AP style, basic knowledge of HTML, graphics and a solid grasp of basic computer skills. Experience with Photoshop, advanced HTML, and digital video editing is preferred.
Candidates must be self-directing, self-motivating and able to work with a diverse group of people inside and outside the newsroom. Must be able to handle a large number of variables in the daily news workflow, including short deadlines.
Send cover letter and resume to: WXIX TV, ATTN Roger Seay, 635 West 7 th Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202 or email to; [log in to unmask] . No phone calls please. EOE-M/F/D/V.
