The deadline is fast approaching.
The workshop is nearby -- Miami's Hamilton campus.
Student fee is a mere $10, which includes lunch.
Hope to see you here!

Subject: Register now for the ACES/Ohio editing workshop
From: [log in to unmask] (Jeff Pierron)
Date: Thu, October 21, 2004 1:10 pm
To: Copy editors, newsroom supervisors, educators, students and others
From: The Ohio chapter of the American Copy Editors Society
Subject: Monday, Nov. 1, deadline for workshop registrations to be
received

Copy editors from newspapers as far away as the Jackson (Mich.) Citizen
Patriot and as diverse as Louisville (Ky.) Business First, the Tiffin
Advertiser-Tribune and the Cleveland Plain Dealer already have
registered for the ACES/Ohio workshop. Shouldn't you be there, too?

A reminder that registrations must be RECEIVED (not postmarked) by
Monday, Nov. 1, for the fifth annual ACES/Ohio copy-editing workshop on
Sunday, Nov. 7, at Miami University's regional campus in Hamilton,
between Cincinnati and Dayton. Advance registration is required because
sandwiches must be ordered before the event. There will be no walk-in
registrations.

For complete information about the workshop, including the schedule and
registration form, please visit the Ohio chapter Web site at
http://www.ohioaces.org .

The registration fee is $10 for ACES members, SND members and all
students; $25 for everyone else. The fee includes lunch and materials.
Those who join ACES in conjunction with the workship will receive the
$10 rate, membership in ACES for a full year (which includes the
quarterly newsletter) and the discount rate for the 2005 ACES national
conference April 21-23 in Hollywood, Calif. Companies will receive one
free workshop registration for every 10 paid registrations.

If you didn't receive a registration form and other information in the
mail or are unable to download the material from the Web site, you can
request to have forms and fliers sent to you via e-mail (Adobe Acrobat
PDFs) or "snail" mail. Just send a message to Jeff Pierron (Columbus
Dispatch) at [log in to unmask]

The fast-paced, lively workshop will focus on practical editing advice
for journalists from papers of all sizes in Ohio and beyond. The
American Copy Editors Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
fostering editing excellence, and speakers at state workshops and
national conferences appear free of charge. Proceeds from the Ohio
workshop will go to ACES to support the national organization's programs
for copy editors and students. See http://www.copydesk.org for more
information about ACES.

If you have any questions, please contact Pierron by e-mail or by phone
at 614-901-9631 (days) or 614-461-5157 (nights). Or you can contact any
other ACES/Ohio steering committee member, whose e-mail addresses are
listed on the chapter Web site.

Our postal and e-mail lists are limited, so please pass this message
along to colleagues at your publication or school who engage in copy
editing.

We hope to see you in November!
