JRN Students,

Please read below about a terrific internship opportunity in Chicago. This comes from May 2010 grad Patrick Giblin. Patrick was able to turn his experience as an intern at WGN radio into a job- no small feat for a recent grad in the 3rd biggest media market in the country. Internship info follows:

Second, I was wondering if you could pass something along for me...I just wanted to remind Chicago-area folks of WGN Radio Internship opportunities. I was fortunate enough to do the internship twice, with 4 different shows. I spent May 2010 - Nov. 2010 as a Programming Intern for WGN Radio and it was fascinating to see the day-to-day prep and work behind radio broadcasting. I highly encourage Miamians (Chicago area or not) to check out WGN Radio's website for more information about it. http://www.wgnradio.com/about/internships/

I went the route of Programming (working with John Williams, Extension 720, Mike McConnell and ex-host Jim Laski), but there are wonderful internships in News, Sports, Web and Sales. WGN Radio's newsroom is the largest in the Midwest with Chicago Tribune, WGNTV and CLTV all operating together.

Lastly, I was able to create contacts and foster relationships with multiple people within the organization, landing a position with Comcast Sportsnet Chicago. From radio to TV, but a start in the field!

Just thought I'd pass it along for any interested students!

Thanks,

Patrick Giblin
