Hello and welcome back to campus!

The Journalism Program will again this year offer several journalism
scholarships and invites your applications. The application form will
be out this week and available from this listserv and in hard-copy form
in the Journalism office, Bachelor 260. The deadline for applications
will be April 10.

Additionally, current juniors and seniors are encouraged to enter the
English Department's annual writing awards, which come with prizes
ranging from $1000 to $5000. Journalism students are especially
directed to consider applying for the Greer/Hepburn senior prizes and
the Montaine junior prizes. Both invite journalistic work and the
English Department works hard to ensure that deserving journalism
entries are among those awarded. The English deadline is this
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 21. Visit
http://www.units.muohio.edu/english/Undergraduate/Awards/
index.html#upperclass for all the details and apps.

Finally, the new deadline for the annual SPJ writing contest is now
this FRIDAY, MARCH 23, AT 5 P.M. No cash prizes, but good for resumes
and bragging rights.

Hope your breaks were fun and fruitful, in that order.

Patti Newberry
