The Society of Professional Journalists is the nation’s most broad-based journalism organization, dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism and stimulating high standards of ethical behavior. Founded in 1909 as Sigma Delta Chi, SPJ promotes the free flow of information vital to a well-informed citizenry through the daily work of its nearly 10,000 members; works to inspire and educate current and future journalists through professional development; and protects First Amendment guarantees of freedom of speech and press through its advocacy efforts.

Sept. 12: Catch our NYTimes weekly news quizzes will be distributed outside King Library every Friday afternoon to test your current events savvy
Sept. 30 or Oct. 2: Inside Olympic Coverage. Members of the Cincinnati/Dayton media who traveled to Beijing will speak about the experience. 5 p.m., 337 Bachelor
Oct. 13: Interns on Interning. Hear about the experiences of fellow students with exciting internships and receive resume tips from the Howe Writing Center and the Miami JRN Internship Program. 6 p.m., 337 Bachelor
Nov. 10 or 13: A TBA speaker from Vanity Fair will share his experience in the magazine journalism industry. 4 p.m., location TBA
Feb. 9: Dana Priest, investigative reporter, for the Washington Post will speak about her award-winning coverage. 4 p.m., Hall Auditorium
