As a follow up to December graduate Maria Roger's new job at the
Hamilton Journal-News, it might interest you to know that the Journal-News
is also looking for a business reporter and a general assignment reporter
to cover police.
Mike Sheehy says that the business reporting position needs someone
with a year's experience since it's a specialized beat. He will consider a
graduate who has done some internships with emphasis on business writing.
The GA spot is an evening job covering police and doing assignments
as given to you by editors. This one has been open for awhile and they are
anxious to fill it.
They want to fill the business reporter spot within two months. No
discussion on salary, but my guess is you can expect between
$20,000-$23,000 for business and around $20,000 for the GA spot.
If interested, contact Mike Sheehy, Hamilton Journal-News, 228
Court St., Hamilton, Ohio 45011. You will need a cover letter, resume and
clips to support your writing.
Mike is a long-time supporter of Miami and his paper has a good
working relationship with the journalism program. He is happy to hire MU
grads.
Good luck.
