Hey everyone!

There are a lot of opportunities coming up for you guys to get points!  We are having our FIRST MEETING ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th at 8:00pm in HRN 111.  You will get one point for coming.  We will be discussing the Sandy Hormel Book Celebration and other upcoming events. We will also be having a KDPi T-Shirt design contest.  If you want to enter the contest, you can email Baylie (me) ([log in to unmask]) your KDPi T-Shirt design by 5:00pm on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7th.  We will vote at the meeting the next day. The person who wins the contest will get 1 point!!

SANDY HORMEL BOOK CELEBRATION INFORMATION:

We have some wonderful volunteer opportunities coming up that we wanted to inform you about before our FIRST MEETING (MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th at 8:00pm in HRN 111 (1 point)).  As some of you may know, the Sandy Hormell Book Celebration is coming up soon!! There is an author, Augusta Scattergood, coming to Oxford on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18th to talk about her book, Glory Be.  We will need the following volunteers..

1. Set up the reception at Lane Library @ 4:30pm - 4 people (1 point)
- you would just help set up the yummy food & drinks for the reception

2. During the reception at Lane Library @ 7:30pm - 4 people (1 point)
- help hand out the food and drinks at the reception

3. Clean up after the reception at Lane Library @ 9pm - 4 people (1 point)
- you would just help clean up the reception (you may get to eat leftovers too!!)

4. Break down at the Oxford Community Arts Center @ 8pm - 4 people (1 point)
- help them clean up after the book discussion

Then on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19th we need as many volunteers as possible to go to Talawanda Middle School. You will go into classrooms and teach a lesson/give a book discussion that is provided that goes along with the book, Glory Be. (3 points!)

You will receive another email later this week to sign up for the Book discussions at Talawanda Middle School.  Once you sign up, you will get the book, Glory Be for free.  You will need to read this book before you lead the book discussion on Friday.

We really encourage everyone to volunteer for at least one of these opportunities!  Remember that you need 15 points if you are a new member and 10 points if you are existing member!!
