I apologize for missing the Mathematics Education Committee meeting
today. I may have to miss next week's meeting also. For what it's
worth, I have a few comments and/or questions about the B.S. and
M.A.T. proposals.
Dave Kullman
B.S. Ed. PROGRAM
1. The elective MTH or STA courses should bring the number of HOURS
to at least 22.
2. How does EDT 4cc differ from EDT 465? Is it redundant?
3. Do we know anything about the content of EDP 4bb or EDL 4dd? Are
they relevant to the program?
M.A.T. PROGRAM
1. Prerequisites ("transcript records")
We should say: "a year of calculus, including multi-dimensional
calculus."
We should say: "a calculus-based course in probability
and statistics."
2. It looks like the program requires 56 credit hours. This seems
excessively high for a master's degree. Could the proposed 5bb,
5cc, and 5dd be eliminated?
3. Realistically, can a candidate for this degree earn the "six
credit hours of 600-level mathematics, statistics, or mathematics
education courses . . ." without taking some courses like MTH 605,
606, or 607 in the summer?
