Background
==========
The Creativity Consortium was formed in the Spring of 1992 to foster and
promote the use of lateral creative thinking skills in education, business,
government, culture and society. The Creativity Consortium held its
first meeting at the Toronto City Hall in April 1992.

The Creatvity Consortium now meets on the last Wednesday of each month
(Jan-June and Sept-Nov). We invite prominent, world-class guest speakers and
practise generating new concepts and ideas using lateral thinking at
every meeting.

What Toastmaster's has done for public speaking in the last 30 years,
the Creativity Consortium is now doing for lateral thinking...turning
it into a social concern, world-wide.

Toronto was once called the intellectual capital of the world by the New
York Times, back in the heydays of Marshall McLuhan. The Creativity Consortium
is trying to bring back some of that spirit and passion for fresh ideas,
concepts and perceptions.

Corporate sponsors in Toronto include the Royal Bank, Price Waterhouse,
The Information Technology Research Centre (ITRC) and the Toronto New
Business Development Centre.
