Tutor-L is an unmoderated public conference for discussions and notices
relating to the development and introduction of: (a) the new "global
tutoring" concept, (b) the IT (International Tutoring) Project (including,
the IT Web Site now under construction but accessible to all for comment),
and (c) other alternative forms of learning. In addition to posting and
responding to queries and comments, subscribers are encouraged to post
notices of upcoming events, job offerings, and new publications and
services relevant to the Tutor-L list and its subscribers.

All students, be they gifted or challenged, rich or poor, ambulatory or
not, will have access to global tutoring. Please consult the IT Web Site
in August for IT global tutor and IT global tutee application forms, and
for the first selection of subjects to be offered when IT operations begin
September 1, 1995. Eventually, a wide range of multilingual subjects will
be offered by IT for pre-school to continuing education students.

Based upon discussions held on the Tutor-L list and recommendations made
by IT committees, global referenda will be held on the Tutor-Announce-L
list, with the results of the voting disseminated on both conferences.

We have embarked upon what may be an important voyage -- namely, the
discovery of practical ways to enhance student learning everywhere.

Respectfully,

Michael Berns
