With summer approaching rapidly, and with quite a large number of
students, professionals and others looking for challenging
volunteer and internship opportunities, we hope this information
will prove to be both timely and helpful.
 
Most sponsoring organizations have January and February deadlines;
the time to inquire and apply is now.
 
Persons with engineering background, and engineering students, are
particularly welcome.

2. COORDINATING COMMITTEE FOR INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER SERVICE-
Coordinates workcamps and other activities of voluntary service
organizations. College student oriented. Contact:

3. OPERATION CROSSROADS: Global Volunteers- (particularly for
North Americans). Crossroads offers Volunteers/Interns a chance to
do summer work and participate in multi-disciplinary grassroots
projects that Africans and Brazilians in rural communities deem
valuable.  There are 20 - 25 projects planned; the need is for 200
- 250 volunteers/interns and 20 - 25 Project Directors.
 
The organization helps Volunteers/Interns raise the funds needed
for travel and living expenses.
 
Crossroads recently announced that ONLINE applications are
available for Project Directors/Leaders (26 yrs and over with
expertise) and for Volunteers/Interns (college age and up; ALL are
welcome).
 
Students generally arrange with their campuses to receive academic
credit (typically 7 to 15 units) for their summer internship
experience.
