Well, just thinking off the top of my head, you could make aliases as
symbols, for example:
 
In your login.com file, if you wanted an alias for me, you could put
something in like:
 
$ felix :== "[log in to unmask]"
 
and then at the command line, if you wanted to finger me, you would
type:
 
finger 'felix
 
The ' (single quote) is required to translate the symbol,
otherwise, the "felix" will be taken literally.
 
Whenever you want to use the alias on the command line, just enclose
it in single quotes (or if it's the last thing on the command line,
you just need the leading quote as shown above).
