down/upload with X/YMODEM?

I need help to download files.  I usually use Kermit to download files
from my VAX account.  Sofar I used the Kermit that can be obtained from
the University.  A couple weeks ago I started to use a communication
program that has XMODEM and YMODEM (different versions).  Now I would like
to know, if I can use this on the VAX and if yes, which should I use and how
can I use them?
I appreciate any comment or answer.  Thank already now!
