Actually, this is the first I've heard of this nighttime problem.  If you
can give me information about the times that it's happening, I'll try to
track down the cause.
 
You may be able to see the cause yourself.  If you issue the following
command at the $ prompt:
 
    $ MON PROCESS/TOPCPU
 
you'll see a real-time display of the top CPU-using processes.  This may
give an indication of who/what is causing the problem.  I don't know that
this will help you, but it may take some of the mystery out of the problem.
